Uniforms

The wearing of full school uniform is compulsory. It is important that all students wear the full Xavier Catholic College uniform correctly, both at school and in public. The full uniform must be worn to and from school, and we ask that parts of the uniform not be worn in public outside of school hours. If, for any reason, a student is unable to be in full school uniform, they must have a note from their parent, preferably in their planner, explaining the problem and the expected day when the student will be back in full uniform.

Junior Uniforms

Students in Years 7-10 wear the junior College uniform.

Winter uniform is worn from the first Monday in May until the first Friday in September. Summer uniform is worn at all other times.

Junior Girls' Uniforms

All girls must purchase the College dress. It can be worn all year and must be worn on official occasions with the Xavier Catholic College socks. The dress must be knee-length. 

As alternatives, junior girls may wear:

• Summer uniform: The College dress, OR navy tailored shorts and the College's striped polo shirt with the Xavier Catholic College socks.
• Winter uniform: The College dress, OR shorts/trousers with a black belt, navy chambray shirt (tucked in) and tie with the Xavier Catholic College socks. Students may also wear the navy jumper or jacket with the College crest or the red College vest. 

Junior Boys' Uniforms

• Summer uniform: Navy tailored shorts and the College's striped polo shirt with the Xavier Catholic College socks.
• Winter uniform: Shorts/trousers with a black belt, navy chambray shirt (tucked in) and tie with the Xavier Catholic College socks. Students may also wear the navy jumper or jacket with the College crest or the red College vest.

There are some students who may feel more comfortable in a gender-neutral uniform. At Xavier Catholic College, this uniform is the seasonal shirt, shorts/trousers, navy College socks, and black polishable lace-up shoes.

Senior Uniforms

Students in Years 11 and 12 wear the senior College uniform.

Winter uniform is worn from the first Monday in May until the first Friday in September. Summer uniform is worn at all other times.

Senior Girls' Uniforms

The senior skirt (two pleats in front and tunnel back) must be knee-length. It is to be worn with the white, short-sleeve blouse with the College crest. The senior girls' blouse sits over the skirt. The short red tie must be worn all year. Girls must also wear College socks.

Girls may wear College trousers instead of skirts.

Senior Boys' Uniforms

Senior boys must wear the College shorts/trousers with a belt and the white short-sleeve shirt with the College crest. The shirt must be tucked in. Boys must also wear College socks.  

The College's Senior Tie must be worn as part of the winter uniform.

Blazers

A College blazer is provided to students on official occasions. Students do not purchase the blazer. It is worn with the formal College uniform:

• Junior girls: Dress
• Junior boys: Trousers, shirt and tie
• Senior girls: Navy skirt, white blouse and red tie
• Senior boys: Trousers, senior shirt and tie.

Sports Uniforms

The Sports uniform is compulsory for all sports and practical PDHPE lessons. It consists of navy microfibre shorts with the College crest and the College's sports polo shirt with the emblem. Students must wear the navy College socks in sports uniform. 

Footwear

School shoes must be black, fully enclosed, polishable and lace-up. Boots, Mary Jane or ballet-style shoes are not acceptable. 

Sports shoes must be black or white supportive sports shoes, such as joggers. Extremes of colour and style, or shoes in a degraded state, are not acceptable. For safety reasons, students may not wear casual footwear, such as canvas shoes or skate shoes. Please see the College's Sport Shoe Policy for more information.

The navy College socks must be worn at all times.

Headwear

Students may wear:

• A broad-brimmed navy hat with XCC embroidered on it for general wear and passive recreation, OR 
• A navy cap with XCC embroidered on it for physical activity and active recreation. 

The cap is compulsory. Either the hat or the cap must be worn when the student is not under full shade. We recommend that students wear their broad-brimmed hats to school in the morning and home in the afternoons. The school cap must be worn during practical PDHPE classes, during sports, and while playing on the oval at lunchtime. This policy meets the requirements of WHS and the Cancer Council's sun care policies.

Personal Presentation

High standards of personal grooming are to be maintained.

Hair

Extremes of hairstyle and/or colour will not be accepted. Any students with shoulder-length hair or longer should have it tied back with an appropriate tie in College colours.

Boys are to be clean-shaven.

Makeup and Jewellery

• No more than three small sleepers or studs in each ear
• A single plain chain or a chain with a religious medal   
• A single ring of appropriate size and simple style on each hand   
• No bangles or bracelets
• No other visible body piercings, including nose piercings
• No tattoos
• No makeup
• Acrylic/fake nails are not permitted
• Nail polish must be clear or natural.

Non-uniform jewellery will be confiscated and returned at the end of term.
